Set up email in Outlook on Windows
When you receive your new business email, it needs to be set up in Outlook so you can send and receive. This guide covers both automatic setup (recommended for Microsoft 365 and Exchange) and manual IMAP setup.
Open Outlook and go to account settings
Start Outlook. Click File in the top left corner and select Add Account. If this is the first time you open Outlook, you will automatically be asked to add an account.
Enter your email address
Type the email address you received from us — e.g. your-name@your-domain.dk — and click Connect. Outlook automatically tries to find the correct server settings.
Automatic setup (Microsoft 365 / Exchange)
If your email runs on Microsoft 365 or Hosted Exchange, Outlook finds the correct settings by itself. You will be asked to sign in with your password (and possibly approve via Microsoft Authenticator if MFA is enabled). Once you are signed in, you are ready — Outlook automatically synchronises email, calendar and contacts.
Manual setup (IMAP) — if automatic does not work
Select IMAP as the account type if Outlook asks you to choose. Use these settings:
Incoming server (IMAP): Server: The server address you received from us Port: 993 Encryption: SSL/TLS
Outgoing server (SMTP): Server: Same as incoming (or the SMTP address you received) Port: 587 Encryption: STARTTLS
The username is usually your full email address. The password is the one you received when the account was created.
Test that it works
Send a test email to yourself or a colleague. Also check that you can receive. If something is not working, restart Outlook and try again — it can take up to a minute before the first synchronisation is complete.
Using Microsoft 365? Then we always recommend the automatic setup — it makes sure your calendar, contacts and Teams are synchronised correctly too.
